Cordstrap is looking for a Global Process Engineer. Someone who has a ‘let’s get it done’ mentality and is equally comfortable working in a stand-alone position.

  • Strapping: polyester strapping solutions that offer strong, high-quality methods of bundling and securing cargo of all shapes and sizes.
  • Lashing: the most effective way to secure cargo during international transport, no matter the destination or type of transport.
  • Dunnage Bags: stabilizing cargo in containers, closed rail cars, trucks and ships by preventing lateral and longitudinal movement.

Cordstrap is headquartered in Oostrum, in the South-East of the Netherlands, and it maintains a global footprint of sales offices, factories and distribution partners in over 50 countries. It generates €130 million of revenue and has 500 employees around the world.

Over the last few years, Cordstrap has been improving significantly its design of products and processes by reducing material usage and optimizing manufacturing and cost effectiveness.

Your role as Global Process Engineer

In your role as a Global Process Engineer at Cordstrap your main objective is to realize a stable and ‘in control’ production process with optimal results in the areas of safety, delivery, reliability, costs and people. You will do this within a standalone position, however you are part of a team. You report to the Global Operations Improvement Leader. Next to you, the team consists of two Development Engineers and a Plastic Materials Expert.

Furthermore, the Global Process Engineer will:

  • Define and drive methods which ensure that manufacturing locations continuously strive to identify and eliminate risks related to quality via standard methodologies (fe. FMEA);
  • Translate process risks into improvement steps on the Maintenance Strategy;
  • Set up concepts and systems to drive local teams to generate operating procedures, technical standards and effective use of resources;
  • Lead multi-site (technical) projects (CAPEX) related to cost savings, innovations, quality assurance and optimization, monitors and communicates on their progress.;
  • Draft project and engineering standards;
  • Identify and leads automation & process innovation projects within Supply Chain & Operations;
  • Review investment proposals and adjust budgets of local entities in consultation with budget owners within Supply Chain & Operations;
  • Lead problem solving and kaizen activities with production teams based on identified trends or escalations from the MBUs;
  • Train employees on problem solving and kaizen;
  • Develop, configuring, and optimizing industrial processes from inception through to start up and hand over to local PQE / Production leader;
  • Assess processes, taking measurements, and interpreting data;
  • Design, running, testing, and upgrading systems and processes.

Your profile

You have an affinity for process and always strive for optimization and innovation. You are objective and see potential improvements everywhere. You’re able to work independently and take the initiative. However, you don’t hesitate to share your knowledge with others for the benefit of all.

You’re not afraid to make changes and you’re happy to take the lead in making those changes. When you see an improvement opportunity, you take immediate action. This can take the form of educating production staff or approaching suppliers to obtain the best material.

In addition:

  • A completed Bachelor (HBO) or master’s education in Engineering, preferable supplemented with a Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt;
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean, Kaizen and continuous improvement management systems & tools;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with project management;
  • Able to motivate and develop teams;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power point);
  • Cordstrap specific knowledge.
