Supply Chain Manager

As Supply Chain Manager you report to the General Manager of Van Essen Instruments and you will lead the Supply Chain department. The department consists of a Production Coordinator, 2 Production Engineers and Shipping. The team is located at the headquarters in Delft. Along with the General Manager, Controller, Sales Manager and R&D Manager you form the Management Team. The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for purchasing, production, assembly, calibration and logistics (inbound and outbound) and inventory management for all products of Van Essen Instruments. Besides, as a buyer you will manage external production partners and make sure there is a good cooperation with internal departments. You will assure quality, timely production and you will keep the cost as low as possible.
In your role as Supply Chain Manager, you act as a sparring partner to the General Manager and you are in close contact with the Sales Manager and the R&D Manager, and with the rest of the organization. Moreover, you maintain the communication with production, which is mainly done by external partners located in The Netherlands. You will plan internal assembly and calibration activities based on customer demand, required stock levels and availability of parts and products from suppliers. You manage and control stock levels within established ranges through the company’s ERP system. Also, you are able to coach and motivate your team in order to maximize their potential and the potential of Van Essen. The Supply Chain Manager is expected to initiate continuous improvement projects and you will motivate the team to proactively partake in these projects.
The Supply Chain Manager is able to perform and oversee the purchasing activities to assure orders are placed and fulfilled within stated lead times, and to prepare and process the purchasing requisitions within the company’s guidelines. One of the goals is to identify any single source suppliers and to develop alternative sources. Furthermore, you maintain vendor scorecards to identify top ten major suppliers.
The products of Van Essen Instruments are mainly produced by two external parties in The Netherlands. Van Essen is specialized in developing, assembling and calibrating the Divers and peripherals. Therefore, managing the whole process of procurement, assembly, calibration, inventory and logistics within the organization is crucial for success and is the focus of this position.

In addition, you:
- Have a technical bachelor’s degree;
- Have 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Have knowledge and experience with ERP systems;
- Have the experience with supervising and managing a small team;
- Have strong interpersonal skills;
- Have the ability to work autonomously;
- Are fluent in English and Dutch, written and spoken.
